The "fruit of India", as it is sometimes called, has a sweet and sour taste and is found in hundreds of varieties in the tropical regions of Asia where it thrives (India, China, Thailand, etc.). It is a fruit rich in beta carotene. Consuming large amounts of this antioxidant can act as a "shield" against certain cancers. Mango is also rich in another carotenoid called lycopene, which is also a powerful antioxidant and essential for protecting cells and suppressing tumour growth.
