Tumbleweed Sundance Viognier This Viognier captures the radiance of sunrise in a glass. The bouquet is a symphony ofpeach blossom, ripe stone fruit, and vibrant citrus, all seamlessly layered with a hint ofvanilla. Lush yet balanced, with a refined, lingering finish, this is a wine of depth, elegance, and luminous character. VineyardThe vineyards are located in Breedekloof, which is nestled between two mountainranges and lies between the Atlantic Ocean and the Klein Karoo. The vines grown heretypically benefit from a Mediterranean-type climate. The soils are mostly sandy, whichoffer excellent drainage, good aeration, and the ability to retain heat. These propertiescan help prevent root rot and encourage deep root systems, leading to vines that areless susceptible to drought stress and disease. Additionally, sandy soils can contributeto wines with bright, fresh flavours and aromas. The Viognier vines are mainly trellisedwith some grown as bush vines. The vineyards are sustainably cultivated and thegrapes are hand harvested.WinemakingThe grapes were destemmed and crushed before being pressed to tank to settle. Thewine was then racked to neutral 225 to 300-litre oak barrels for alcoholic fermentation. The wine did not undergo malolactic conversion retaining a balancing crispness.Maturation lasted for six months in barrel before being gently prepared for bottling. The“Tumbleweed” wine series is known for its wild and vibrant flavours, showcase thecharacteristics of the grape varietals and region. Bruce Jack Wines is made up of a small, dynamic team which aims to celebrate authenticity and provenance, not just in the wine they craft, but in everything they do. Head winemakers Bruce Jack and Marlize Beyers have worked together for over two decades, since 2002, and both have extensive experience in many winemaking regions around the world. Human culture started at the tip of Africa, despite it being ‘off the charts’, so it is fitting that something as culturally rooted as wine should thrive there, inspiring the ‘Off the Charts’ wine range, crafted from grape varieties and regions that are South Africa’s viticultural cornerstones. The labels draw inspiration from the untamed majesty of the wilderness and the symbolic Basotho blanket. In 2023, Bruce Jack featured for the fourth consecutive year in the World’s Most Admired Wine Brands, an accolade awarded by the Drinks International.
